Two
image-making technologies confront each other in this project. Large back-lit
photographs of medically-based fragments of my internal body parts are merged
with images of my genetic family translated through innumerable pinholes
in the actual photographs.
Working with the actual medical film, small sections (1 1/2" x 1/2" pieces) of MRI images are enlarged onto regular photographic paper to a size of 20 " x approximately 70", laminated, and then suspended out from the wall with lights behind, replicating the viewing procedures of the original medical images. Each of these images is merged with a series of overlapping images created by poking pins into the medical images. |
